Benito Mussolini
Mussolini was born on July 29, 1883 in Dovia di Predappio, a small t sustain in the province
of Forli in Emilia-Romagna. His father, Alessandro Mussolini was a blacksmith and a socialist,
while his m different, Rosa Maltoni was a devoutly Catholic taketeacher. Mussolini was named
Benito after Mexican reformist President Benito Juarez, while his midsection names Andrea and
Amilcare were from Italian socialists Andrea Costa and Amilcare Cipriani. In the early

Although Benito was quite intelligent, he was equally violent and had a astronomic ego. He
was not a good student and he learned very little. While at tennerding boarding school in Faenza,
Italy, Mussolini stabbed another student, and as a result was expelled.



He eventually received
his diploma in 1901 and briefly taught secondary school. (Hibbert, pg. 4-6) In 1902 he moved
to Switzerland to avoid military service. He also associated with other socialists while in
Switzerland. Mussolini returned to Italy in 1904 and over the next ten years worked as a
journalist.
